Quick Fatal Error 635

I don't know whether we have experienced exactly the same problem on
Unix, but we used to hit a similar problem getting a Fatal Error 1404.
Our routine had a lot of temporary and defined items within the loop,
and the problem related to the size of the expression table, which is an
adjustable parameter in the QKGO.
I believe that this is now fixed on Unix, but how we got round the
problem was to have a counter in the while retrieving loop, and break
out of the loop after the count exceeded a certain value (typically
1000-3000). We used to have a flag which was passed down from the
calling menu screen, and the status of the flag was changed dependant on
whether the count limit had been exceeded or not. In this way we could
enter the screen again to continue processing until the entire run was
complete.

Subject: Quick Fatal Error 635
I've written a program that reads a file via a while retrieving loop and
then gathers in information from other files to output data to another
file.
Sounds simple so far.
Within the while retrieving loop the first program can call a second
upto
five times to validate the data read in.
If the program is ran against a small number of input records it works
fine
but as soon as the while retrieving gets to 16,000+ records I get to
error
"*Fatal Error* *635* Notify Cognos Customer Support". Cognos don't have
a
definite answer and suggested that I use a QKGO file to increase to
number
of screen levels allowed. This hasn't worked either.
Operating system = VMS / Alpha 7.1
Powerhouse = 710G1
Has anyone any ideas.
