Ray, it might help if you could show us the code you're using to achieve
what you want to do.  Not the whole program, just the bits from both screens
applicable to your question.

I think Ken is one the right track but can't be sure until we see the logic
you're using.

	Can some help and stop me pulling my hair out.

	I got a program that prompts for a temporary item and validates
against a
	file of valid replies. The user can enter an exclamation mark (!)
which then
	calls a popup screen and then select a response for the list shown
(contents
	of lookup file).

	Problem is that if the user enters the popup screen and just exits
without
	selecting any data then the contents of one of the other fields is
shown in
	the Temporary Item. It's as though somehow the screen buffer is
getting up
	into fieldtext.

	Any Ideas ???
