Interesting you mention that. You are right, some programs did stop working,
but usually QTP, not Quiz (although it is possible they gave incorrect answers
<grin>).
The most distinctive change I remember in going to 5.01 is that most reports
ran *much* faster! The difference seemed to be that in SELECT statements
under the 4.00 the *last* occurrence of an unqualified item in the list of
files in the ACCESS statement would be selected. For example, if an item
appeared in the 1st and the 5th file in the ACCESS statement, then 4.00 Quiz
would have to read records from all 5 files before rejecting the record
complex.
With 5.01, Quiz selected the *first* item found. Using the example above,
Quiz 5.01 would only read one record then immediately reject the record
complex.
I recall distinctive discovering this when a client asked me why his program
ran so slow on his terminal and so *fast* on mine! ;-) It turned out I had my
UDC set to point at 5.01 and his was still pointing at 4.00.
No great earth-shattering information here, just an old PH coot reminiscing
