concurrent versions

Hi Kevin,

The current version of PowerHouse for your HP3000 is 8.19C3, which
automatically installs into a unique group of its own under the
COGNOS account. A new UDC is also provided in this group.

To continue using your 7.09 as the default version you should leave the
UDC provided with that version as a system-level, or account-level (for
those accounts needing 7.09) UDC.

The users who need to work with 8.19 can simply override the system or
account level UDC by setting the 8.19-specific UDC as a user-level catalog.
Hence, when these users type any of the PowerHouse commands they
will start the 8.19 versions of the programs...while other users will still
be
starting the 7.09 versions.

Hi everybody!

we are quite a few releases down on the version we should be running so my
question is:

can we just install the version we need into a different group in the same
account as our current version (7.09e),
and then continue using the current version while be begin the task of
recompiling dictionaries and screens and subsequently also, converting from
QDD to PDL.?

Obviously, we'll need to be able to discriminate which version of PH we are
using at any given time, but that shouldn't
be a great problem.

Your thoughts in this matter will be most expected appreciated :)
