The following is the text of a letter which will be arriving on the desks of
some 18,000 individuals who have an interest in the Cognos application
development tools, PowerHouse and Axiant...
Together we can make this year's user conference the best yet for PowerHouse
and Axiant users.
This year's Cognos User Conference, Enterprise 99, will take place at The
Peabody Orlando Hotel, Orlando, Florida, USA between September 7th and 10th.
And we in the Cognos Application Development Tools Group want to ensure that
it's the best yet for our PowerHouse and Axiant customers.
Naturally, we will be there ourselves to tell you all about the latest
exciting product developments, including new features and future direction.
Our education consultants will be there to teach you the latest enhancements
to your favourite development tools - such as PowerHouse Web, that makes
your PowerHouse screen programs accessible over the Web. And our
Professional Services' consultants will be there, so that you can benefit
from their real-world experiences in application development. However, none
of this is a substitute for hearing directly from customers, like you, who
use PowerHouse and Axiant daily to drive their mission-critical business
applications.
A few weeks ago the conference call for papers was issued. If this is to be
the best conference yet for our application development tools users we need
your help to do it. We need your experience, your insight, and your success
stories - together with your tips and techniques. Please come and share
these gems with other, like-minded, PowerHouse and Axiant users in Florida
this September.
Be sure to submit your abstract before February 12th. If you're not sure
what people want to hear about, just use the conference track titles as a
guide - Beginner Technical, Advanced Design + Deployment, Success Stories,
Enterprise Solutions. Come and show the world how you have used the
developer productivity of PowerHouse or Axiant to deliver real benefit to
your organisation. Have you migrated to a relational database? You
did...what issues did you face, and how did you resolve them? Have you
adopted the Axiant visual development environment? If so, why - what were
the benefits, and what were the challenges you faced? Are you, like many
others, staying with your proprietary MPE/iX, OpenVMS or OS/400 servers -
when all around you appear to be moving to UNIX or Windows NT? Yes...then
come and tell us the reasoning behind your decision. And don't forget, all
speakers at the conference will be exempt from the registration fee - a
saving of up to US$1,195.
Even if you are unable to present a paper at the conference, do come along
and meet face-to-face with many of the developers and management responsible
for the on-going success of the PowerHouse family. And hear from other users
who have already done what you might be considering for the future. Sign up
now for significant early-bird discounts.
Full details of the conference, together with abstract submission and
registration details can be found on the Cognos web site at
http://www.cognos.com/enterprise99.
Thank you...and see you in Florida!
Best regards,
Conrad
