You didn't include code, so we don't know whether
you've got PDL errors, QDESIGN errors, etc.
The 7.10 doc says this should work.
Try this, making sure things are in the order
defined by the documentation...
ELEMENT BLUEDATE &
; logical datatype and size
Date size 6 &
; date-attributes
Separator "/" & or whatever
Format yyyymmdd & or whatever
Century Excluded &
; description-attributes
Description "..." &
Heading "..." &
Label "..." &
; item-attributes
Default Item Datatype Integer size 2 ; or whatever
; values-attributes
The 7.10 Doc also says date-attributes are supported for usages.
Don't have 600C manuals any longer. Haven't used PHD in a while.
If 600C PHD supports it, there should be a yes-no flag
somewhere in the element definition screens. Ditto for usage.
Try the help subsystem in the PHD screens and HELP in PDL.
You can also try typing ...
> Element X Date Size 6 Century ?
... to find out what ALL the valid options at that point are.
Then try...
> Element X Date Size 6 ?
> Element X Date Size ?
to see if there are any differences in the 'expected' list.
You can also try changing the order of the attributes.
That sometimes resolves these kinds of problems.
Make sure your customer is on 7.10.F2 or higher.

Subject: used CENTURY EXCLUDED on elements
G'day all
I have a system where most of the dates are CENTURY EXCLUDED in DATE Size 6,
PHDATE or NUMERIC Size 6 types. The PowerHouse versions are 6.10 (current)
and 7.10F (soon to be).
To make sure the date functions work ok we plan on making the PHD CENTURY
INCLUDED with the DEFAULT CENTURY 2000 (to handle 2/29/2000). No, I repeat,
NO date expansion will be done. Some PHD date elements are actually Size 8.
The 7.10 manual indicates that I can specify CENTURY EXCLUDED in the ELEMENT
definitions. I am testing my PHD changes under 6.00C and getting compile
errors on this syntax. I intend to use USAGES for the date elements and
want to put CENTURY EXCLUDED in the USAGE definitions.
Has anybody done something similar?
Did this option not exist prior to version 7.10? (I can't find the 6.n
manuals anywhere)
Does it actually work under 7.10?
Can I use CENTURY EXCLUDED in the USAGE definitions?
TIA
