Maybe you can use ODBC in Windows 95/98/NT to connect via two data sources.
One datasource would be the dbf file and the other a fixed length text file.
The latter then would be a portable subfile which can be accessed with
PowerHouse.

These ODBC drivers are not standard included in the microsoft OS-es. I use
Visio which has these drivers included.
