Hi,

I have an opportunity to work a small Y2K contract (evenings & weekends)
directly to a company in Edmonton, Alberta (while I live and work from
Vancouver,British Columbia) instead of through an agency and was
wondering what kind of experiences (especially those of us working in
Canada) have doing this (working directly)?

- Is it a good idea to have a contract explaining
responsibilities/liabilities/payment arrangements/other etc between
yourself and the client?
- What has been your experience(s)?
- Have you used a lawyer to set this up? What do they charge?
- Any things to watch for when dealing with the client and/or lawyer?
- Do you know of any good lawyers/firms that deal with this stuff in
Vancouver BC Canada?
- Any experience or estimates as to what it would cost to set such a
contract up?
- Are contracts easy enough to modify in case I have more clients that I
will deal directly with?

I told the client I would get back to him on Monday. I haven't promise a
yes/no - as I will have to get a bit more information first.
