Information on Portable Subfiles

We are looking for more information about portable subfiles created using
QTP.  We want to create a file to be transferred from our HP3000 to a
Sybase table on our HP-Unix system.  We understand that using the Portable
option on the subfile statement will not allow PowerHouse to add a byte if
the file size is of an odd value.

Can anyone provide us with more information about portable subfiles?  The
Cognos site has almost nothing on it, and the manual the same.
