Powerhouse Opportunities In Canada

Mr. Alan Finstad at Contractor's Network Corporation in Calgary, Alberta
is looking for a Powerhouse programmer/analyst with 3+ years experience
for a short term contract in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The work
will be done during the latter portion of February/first part of March
1999. It will need to be completed, tested, and implemented before the
end of March 1999.

The client will be updating their existing DEC VAX/VMS based application
to a Y2K compliant version in the first part of February 1998. 

Your responsibilities will include:
- reading the existing user and system documentation
- interacting with the client's employees and the American company that
built the VAX based application
- updating some existing programs that port data between this
application and several PC based applications
- developing a test plan
- overseeing the test plan
- updating system documentation
- implementing the updated data porting programs (called interfaces)


In addition to having good communication skills, you should have
knowledge and experience with the following:
- quotation/order entry/ticketing systems
- a good working knowledge of the VAX/VMS operating system including DCL
command/batch files
- Powerhouse QTP and record locking
- Powerhouse Dictionary
- converting Common Data Dictionary (CDD) file/record definitions to
Powerhouse Dictionary Language (PDL) and then uploading them into a
Powerhouse Dictionary
- knowledge of the Kermit file transfer protocol
- Windows 95 and modems

Experience with the following would also be beneficial:
- Smart Term Essential terminal emulator programs
- knowledge of a scripting language such as Visual Basic
