SQL vs DICT (DATES)

I have dates defined in SQL as integer. They are not currently defined in
the dictionary. I do not want to change the SQL but I want the date element
to be in the PH dictionary. What would be the implications of defining the
element as:
ELEMENT TYPE 'D'
SIZE 8
DATATYPE 'INTEGER-S"
SIZE 8
As long as the database type is numeric this shouldn't pose any problems in
making the element date type should it? What numeric datatypes will work as
PH date types? We are using VAX/RDB.
